iSCA is a candidate for Cognia Accreditation with the following divisions: The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI).
What qualifications do your teachers have?
Our teachers hold a bachelor’s degree. Many of our teachers have earned or are currently in the process of earning a master’s or doctorate degree.
Where are your teachers from?
Our teachers are from all over the world, including the USA, UK, Canada, Philippines, Malaysia, Africa, and China.
What standards does the school follow?
Most of our subjects use the AERO (American Education Reaches Out) standards, which are based on the Common Core Standards.

What should my child wear when engaging with online classes?
Students are required to dress appropriately for Zoom calls. Specific details can be found in the student handbook.
How can my child transition well to an online school?
Our experienced leadership and teachers will help your child through the transition process.
How can parents be involved with the school?
Absolutely! We want our parents to be involved and sharing their experiences with one another. We offer parent support and trainings throughout the year.
How does the school communicate with parents?
We communicate with parents through a variety of outlets. Our primary communication channels include WeChat, email, and Canvas.
How can I apply my child for enrollment with iSCA?
The best way to apply is to complete the online application on our website.
When should I apply my child for enrollment?
As soon as you are interested in iSCA.
Are there commitments if I submit an application?
None at all. We use the application for information gathering purposes only. You can withdraw your application at any time if you decide not to come to iSCA.
Is there a deadline for submitting my application?
There is no specific deadline for the application. We have rolling admissions.
What documents do I need to have in preparation of my child’s enrollment?
Nationally-recognized photo identification and previous academic records (at least two years are preferred if available).
Should all application documents be prepared with an English notarization?
All documents should be translated in English.
How long does it normally take before I know if my child has been accepted?
Parents will be notified within 48 hours after completing the testing process.
Does my child have to join the school on a specific date?
Not necessarily. We recommend students begin at the beginning of each quarter.
What types of assessments are used for admissions?
We use Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) as admissions testing for native English speakers from Grades 1 to 10. Non-native English speakers in grades 1 to 10 complete an English assessment test. Students enrolling the Chinese Language courses complete a Chinese assessment test or basic interview.
How will my child engage with admission assessments?
The assessment will be held online using Zoom.
If my child fails the admissions test, when can they test again?
It is based on a case-by-case basis.
Are there waiting lists for enrollment to any iSCA programs?
Waiting lists are established as needed based on grade level capacity. Except for language courses that offer smaller class sizes, most courses open when approximately ten students are enrolled; additional sections are opened if sections exceed 24 students.
Does my child need to be fluent in English for the full-time program?
Not necessarily. We consider a number of factors related to English language proficiency including age, current English level, country of residence, and available parent and community support.
What is the minimum age we can enroll our child to iSCA?
Students must be at least five years old by September 30 of the year in which they wish to enroll.
Do you admit students with disabilities or special learning needs?
We admit students based on the availability of resources to serve them appropriately.
In what circumstances is the application fee refunded?
The application fee is non-refundable.
What curriculum does the school offer?
iSCA offers an American curriculum with an international flavor.
What should we prepare for the class?
Divisional principals will let you know what your child needs to be ready for school. All iSCA students must have internet access, preferably high-speed internet, as well as their own computer.
Should I buy textbooks and materials?
Textbooks will be provided. Each class requires different materials, which you'll learn about prior to school starting.
What degree do graduates earn from your school?
High school students will earn a high school diploma.
Do you offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses?
Yes, we have several AP courses available to high school students.
If my child struggles with English, can they still learn well in class?
iSCA teachers will partner with you to best support your child's learning. In some cases, additional English classes will be provided through iSCA.
Does iSCA retain students if they struggle with English?
One benefit of online learning is that students may progress at an individualized pace. In some cases, students may need to spend longer than their peers to complete content at a specific grade level, but they won't go down a grade.
What world language courses are offered by iSCA?
Currently Chinese and English, but we expect to have more languages in upcoming years!
What college entrance exams are offered to high school students?
iSCA currently does not offer college entrance exams, but works with other iSC schools and testing sites that offer the SAT and ACT.
Where will iSCA report cards, transcripts, and diplomas be accepted?
With Cognia accreditation, iSCA is recognized worldwide. iSC graduates have been accepted to some of the top universities around the world.
What activities are available outside of the academic learning?
Because we know that online students need an opportunity to connect with one another in non-academic ways, iSCA will host club and activity opportunities for students from elementary through high school.
Do students have to join extracurricular activities?
No, extracurricular activities and clubs are optional.
Where do students go after graduation?
Many iSC students return to their home countries to attend university, but students are prepared to enter universities worldwide.
